corazón de melón
mi corazón de melon is a term of endearment in Spanish that translates to my heart of melon. coined from the ‘56 song by Hermanas Benítez, it’s a term my parents called me and my sibling growing up. in honor of their legacy and the home I was raised — this web art aims to archive my childhood family albums through the form, story, and experience of my childhood home. Exploring themes of place-based memory, counter-mapping, and gatekeeping, users are given access to my family archive over time and story.

Prompted to introduce themselves, they are asked to clarify their intentions. If granted access, they hear words from my mother — the primary caretaker of my house — and they are welcomed to wander around the memory field.
